Qualifications, Experience and Essential Skills/Abilities
- Qualified Disability Support Worker – min Cert III Individual Support
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Driver’s License
- NDIS Online Modules
- NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Willingness to complete Sleepover shifts within CA Care Houses
- Versatile communication skills including the ability to interact with both verbal and non-verbal customers
- Ability to effectively work and manage complex behaviours and situations and use initiative to appropriately approach or resolve them
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Work with individuals who have a disability using empathy, integrity, honesty and respect towards the individual
- Respect the individual’s personal beliefs and values and refrain from imposing personal beliefs and values.
- Work with participants to maintain a clean and tidy home.
- Assist in daily activities in accordance with CA Care Services policy and procedures.
- Encourage and support the individual to attend to their daily living needs, e.g, personal hygiene, appearance, community access and programs.
- Support participants to access the community and community resources as independently as possible.
- Support implemented strategies that reduce the long-term risks of the resident’s disability and improves their quality of life.
- Complete all relevant documentation clearly and concisely for each individual by way of progress notes, medication sign off, incident reports and data tracking
- To be proficient in computing skills including emails, reporting and completion of forms and logs.
- Supported Independent Living – Flexibility with 24/7 support in small ratio homes with sleep over shifts in most homes and all aspects of daily living
